How do you price tree work?

Every tree is different, so every price is. Age, health, size, species, what is under the tree, and how we reach it decide the job. An arborist looks in person, free, and you get a written quote. We do not publish a price list, and we do not quote from a photo alone.

All trees are unique. Job duration and pricing depend on each client’s specific situation: the age, health, size, and species of the tree, as well as the existing site conditions. That is why we look before we quote.

What decides the price of your job

  • Height and spread. A 70-foot ponderosa is not a 30-foot maple. The wood weighs more and the rigging takes longer.
  • What is under it. A roof, a fence, a pool, a power line. Anything that means the tree comes down in pieces instead of one cut.
  • Access. Can the lift reach it, or does a climber go up? Our 72-foot lift fits through a 36-inch gate, which changes the answer on a lot of back-yard trees.
  • Condition. Dead and rotten wood is unpredictable and takes more care to bring down safely.
  • What you want left. Logs stacked for firewood, chips left, the stump ground, or everything gone.

What every quote includes: an arborist’s assessment, a licensed and insured crew, all rigging and lift work, and cleanup and haul-off. The quote is in writing, and you can compare it line by line with anyone else’s.

A word on cheaper quotes. A lower number often leaves out one of those lines: the insurance you can verify, the arborist looking at whether the tree needs to come down at all, the cleanup, or the stump. Ask what is in the number. If the other quote has all of it, take it. If it does not, that is where the difference went.
